A win for Exhaust Air Heat Pumps at the HVR Awards!

Exhaust Air Heat Pumps (EAHPs) have gained industry recognition at the 2024 HVR Awards, with NIBE's newest EAHP model, the highly efficient, Propane powered, S735, winning Heat Pump of the Year.

Offering an excellent solution for flats and densely packed inner-city properties where air and ground source heat pumps may not be suitable, EAHPs are an exciting and important addition to the UK's heat pump landscape, with the potential to decarbonise high numbers of homes. Well-established in Europe, in particular Sweden, where NIBE first brought this technology to the masses in the 1980s, EAHPs are a relative newcomer to our marketplace. NIBE is leading the charge in terms of experience and innovation.

The NIBE S735 is an intelligent inverter-controlled EAHP with an integrated hot water heater, delivering heating, hot water and ventilation all in one package - perfect for apartments and new build houses up to 160m2. The S735, uses internal air from a property, no outside unit is required so building aesthetics are not compromised and there are no noise issues to contend with. Internally, sound levels are low, at just 49dB(A).

Boasting a high seasonal performance factor, low operating costs, quiet operation and compact size, the S735 is the next generation of NIBE EAHPs, utilising Low GWP refrigerant, Propane (R290) and state-of-the-art controls; a feature of all heat pumps in NIBE's S-Series. Alongside the myUplink monitoring platform, which allows installers and NIBE's expert support team to trouble-shoot any issues and monitor performance remotely, S-Series heat pumps can be connected to a smart home, with efficiency improved thanks to adjustments based on individual environments and energy tariffs.

Following in the footsteps of the hugely successful F-Series EAHPs, the NIBE S735 has been enhanced with a number of features to improve its operation, environmental credentials and suitability to its target audience.

These developments include:

• Improved environmental credentials: By using low GWP R290 (propane) and further enhancing efficiency, the S735 has an A++++ energy rating with a published SCOP of 4.29.

• Improved power: The S735 is NIBE's most powerful EAHP to-date.

• Reduced running costs: Thanks to its enhanced efficiency and high seasonal performance factor.

• Quiet operation: NIBE's heat pumps are some of the quietest on the market, the S735 has been further developed to reduce noise levels - 49dB(A) nominal sound power level - ideal for flats and densely populated areas.

• Smart controls: The NIBE S735 benefits from some of the most innovative, comprehensive and easy-to-use controls available. Clever features include a Weather Forecast Control function, which will adjust the heat pump in advance of forecasted changes in weather conditions, ensuring optimum comfort at all times.

• Wireless CO₂, temperature and humidity sensors: Wireless sensors read the CO₂, temperature and humidity level in a room or climate zone using the myUplink app. For heat pump installations which include ventilation, the indoor comfort level can automatically be adjusted. For example, ventilation can be increased and CO₂ levels lowered when there are a lot of people present or ventilation can be reduced to cut energy costs.

• Tariff optimisation: myUplink can also work with energy provider tariffs, such as Octopus' various flexible price packages, to ensure optimum efficiency (and cost savings) - i.e. heating water when electricity is at its cheapest.

• Part of a smart home: Wi Fi connection to allow integration with a smart home, including voice control and connection to related smart devices and accessories.
